evaluation of omeprazol, amoxicilin, metronidazole and bismuth quadruple theraphy for helicobacter pylori eradication in patients with peptic ulcer disease and gastroduodenitis

back ground and amis: among the patients who go to physicians, especially to gastroentero logists, a great number consists of the onse suffering upper gi diseases, particularly peptic ulcer disease (pud) which,â in addition to creating much pain and lowering the quality of life causes a great morbidity and â mortality. so it seems necessary to be cured.â according to the lastâ researchesâ the roleâ of h.pylori in this disease has been approved . it has been shown that prescribingâ suitable regimensâ and eradicating h.pylori in pud and gastro duodenitis (g/d) cases can shorten the period of drug therapy andâ cure â mostâ of the patients. â method: in this research the eradication rate ofâ h. pylori by oamb regimen (omeprazole, amoxicillin, metronidazole andâ â bismuth) has been studided.â the files of 360 patients, who had been visited in a private clinic during â four years (1376-1380)â were â studied.â all of these patients had been examined by endoscope and rapid urease test (rut) which was positive in all of them. oamb regimen prescribed and urea breath test (ubt) performed after 6 weeks for all of them. result: 209 (58.1%) of â the patients were female and mean age of the patients was 40.38 yr.â the most common symptom was epigastric pain.ubt was negative in 245 (68.1%) of the patients that mentioned the eradication of h.pyloriâ infection. conclusion: two weeks oamb regimen is not an ideal therapy and should always be followed by rapid urease test to assure eradication.
